EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY
AND ANGIOSPERM PHYLOGENY

Professor Mark Chase FRS is a new appointment to the group funded directly by Curtin University.  Professor Chase is a lead in the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group which resulted in the most significant re-evaluation of flowering plants since the time of Linneaus.  Professor Chase will continue his research into native tobaccos where he is using this recently (2 million years) evolved group to unravel why allopolyploidy underpins evolutionary diversification.
