Erik Veneklaas

Prof. Erik Veneklaas is a very experienced ecologist and plant physiologist. By studying key aspects of plant function, such as plant resource use (water, nutrients), photosynthesis and growth, he aims to increase our understanding of how plants and ecosystems function. His research links with disciplines such as restoration ecology and eco-hydrology, and contributes to the conservation of species and ecosystems threatened by environmental change, the repair of damaged or degraded ecosystems, and the re-establishment of natural ecosystems where these have been destroyed. He is also interested in the design of semi-natural and agricultural land-use systems for a variety of purposes, including environmental services and sustainable agricultural productivity. Prof. Veneklaas is associated with the UWA Schools of Biological Sciences and Agriculture and Environment, teaches ecology and physiology, and is coordinator of postgraduate research students.
